Is Breast Augmentation Right For You?
As a woman, you have a special relationship with your breasts. They are a symbol of your femininity, and your independence as a woman. But, it can be damaging to your self-confidence if you are unhappy with them. Maybe it’s the shape, or maybe they sag a little too low for your liking. Regardless of the reason, if you are unhappy with your breasts, you should know that there are some options for you. Breast augmentation is a route that many women are taking to achieve their desired look. But, if you are interested in getting breast augmentation, it is best that you understand fully what it is, and some of the benefits that come along with it.
What Is Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is a cosmetic procedure that has been utilized by many women, for many years. The goal of this procedure is to enhance the overall appearance of your breasts, by altering the shape, volume, and symmetry of your breasts.
Benefits
- Improved Self-Confidence: Breast augmentation can give you a boost in your self-confidence. When you look good, you feel good, and breast augmentation is a perfect example of that.
- Enhanced Shape & Volume: Breast augmentation’s main goal is to enhance the overall appearance of your breasts by adjusting their shape and volume.
- Corrects Asymmetrical Breasts: Asymmetrical breasts are very common among women. Breast augmentation addresses this to make your breasts symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing.
- Restores Size and Shape After Pregnancy: After pregnancy, your breasts can be smaller than you want, or more saggy than they were before. Breast augmentation can address both of these issues and give you the breasts similar to what you had before pregnancy.

Will I Ever Need to Have My Breast Implant Removed?
Breast augmentation with implants can help to create complementary dimensions between your bust and the rest of your body. Among the most popular plastic surgery offerings, millions of women undergo breast augmentation in the United States every year and, with new implant options, are often able to enjoy results for many years to come.
While modern breast implants have been crafted to last for years, there are reasons you may need or want to have yours removed. These include physical discomfort, such as the development of capsular contracture, along with aesthetic concerns, such as the development of creases or folds on the implant, implant shifting or bottoming out, and implant rupture. In some cases, the removal of breast implants is done specifically to return the breasts to their previous size, or to have a different size, shape, or type of implant placed.
No matter your concern, if you would like to discuss breast implant removal, please get in touch to schedule a consultation. Caring, thoughtful, and attentive, we are here to listen to your concerns, provide honest information about your options, and guide you towards the best ways to reach your goals.

Is Breast Augmentation a Good Fit for You?
Breast augmentation has been among the most popular plastic surgery procedures for many years – and for good reasons. The procedure, while focused on the breasts, can have a profound impact on your entire frame by improving proportions and creating contours that are both natural-looking and more desirable. If you feel like your breasts are ill-suited to your body, we welcome the opportunity to meet with you, listen to your concerns, and help you determine if breast augmentation could help you reach your goals. Use the contact form on this page or call us today to schedule a consultation and learn more.
What Can Breast Augmentation Do?
During breast augmentation surgery, implants are used to enhance the size and shape of the bust. This can help improve symmetry, create more desirable cleavage, and accentuate surrounding curves to produce a more balanced and enticing profile. Implants come in a variety of sizes and shapes, allowing for complete customization. We are pleased to offer a wide selection of options, enabling us to personalize each procedure for the most pleasing and reliable results.
Breast augmentation adds volume to the bust and is ideal for women who have lost volume due to weight fluctuations, aging, or nursing, as well as women who have never been satisfied with the size or shape of their breasts. It cannot, however, fully address breast sagging. For this issue, augmentation may need to be combined with a breast lift – an option we will be happy to discuss if it could prove useful in reaching your goals.
Am I a Good Candidate?

Will a Breast Lift Reduce Cup Size?
Breast lift surgery is designed to address sagging breast tissue, also known as ptosis, and restore a firmer and perkier breast mound. Because it involves the lifting of breast tissue and removal of excess and sagging skin, breast lift may have a slight impact on cup size. It is important to note, however, that cup sizes can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, which may result in little to no change for individual women.
Combining Breast Procedures
While a reduction in cup size does not necessarily translate to smaller breasts, if you are concerned about volume loss, it may be a good idea to consider breast augmentation in conjunction with breast lift surgery. Adding implants to your procedure can help retain or even enhance your breast size while also improving breast shape and addressing issues such as asymmetry. Being open about your aesthetic desires during your initial consultation will allow us to help you determine if breast lift alone or in combination with augmentation will produce the best results.
Am I a Good Breast Lift Candidate?
Good candidates for any breast procedure will need to be in generally good health and prepared for a surgical procedure. If you use tobacco products, you will need to stop several weeks before surgery. Some medications, herbs, and supplements may need to be avoided as well.
Ideal candidates for breast lift surgery are women who do not plan on having any more children and who have the support necessary to take a few days – up to seven – to fully rest and recover. Most women can resume normal activities within seven to fourteen days, but limitations of heavy lifting and other strenuous activities will remain in place for up to six weeks. Understating what the recovery process entails is essential for determining candidacy.
Honest and upfront, our surgeons will take time to listen to your desires, carefully cover candidacy, and help you decide if now is the best time for you to undergo a breast lift procedure.

The Most Popular Plastic Surgery & Non-Surgical Cosmetic Treatments
Since 2001, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) has maintained a database of how many surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures are performed by board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States every year. The numbers for 2020 have recently been announced and, despite a pandemic that prevented any procedures from being performed for several months, the desire for cosmetic improvement remains strong.

2020 Plastic Surgery Statistics

The top five non-surgical cosmetic procedures in 2020 were:
It is important to note that the ASPS only includes data from board-certified plastic surgeons. While many estheticians, physicians, and dermatologists may offer non-surgical cosmetic treatments, their numbers are not considered for this report.
What is Best for You May Not be What is Most Popular
The most popular cosmetic treatments vary from year to year and often reflect societal trends. However, the most popular treatments are not always the best treatments for every patient. This is a big reason to select a board-certified plastic surgeon who has the training and experience necessary to customize your treatments for optimal results.
At Farrell Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, our board-certified plastic surgeon takes time to listen to patient concerns and provide honest and frank information about the benefits and limitations of each procedure we provide.
Caring deeply about patient comfort and satisfaction is simply part of our practice – and we take every step to ensure the women and men who visit us for both surgical and non-surgical solutions are provided the safest and most effective treatments available. If you have been considering a cosmetic procedure, we welcome the opportunity to meet with you, hear your needs, and help you reach your goals.
