What Does a Brow Lift Fix?

Head,Shot,Portrait,Smiling,African,American,Man

Brow lift surgery is used to smooth the deep wrinkles and creases that form across the forehead as we age. In addition to these horizontal wrinkles, brow lift surgery lifts sagging eyebrows and eliminates frown lines, the vertical wrinkles that form between the eyebrows.

During brow lift surgery, skin, muscle, and fat are gently lifted before excess skin is removed. This helps to produce a smoother, softer, and more alert look. Ideal alone, brow lift surgery is often combined with options such as blepharoplasty to address issues including droopy eyelids and dark skin underneath the eyes.

Brow Lift Options

At Farrell Plastic Surgery and Laser Center, we offer both traditional and endoscopic brow lift options, enabling our board-certified plastic surgeon to provide the most effective treatment for each patient. Which technique is right for you depends on factors unique to your anatomy and needs.

With an endoscopic brow lift, three or four small incisions are made behind the hairline. Through these, tiny surgical instruments are used to lift muscle and tissue before excess skin is removed. An endoscopic brow lift can smooth the forehead, soften frown lines, and raise eyebrows like a traditional brow lift and is often the preferred technique due to its reduced risks of complications and shorter recovery period.

Dr. Leo Farrell is an experienced and thoughtful plastic surgeon who takes the time to understand the exact needs of each patient he sees. During your initial consultation, he will carefully evaluate your areas of concern to help you determine which brow lift technique is correct for you.

What Can Blepharoplasty Do?

Woman,Eye,Before,And,After,Cosmetic,Treatment,With,And,Without

Blepharoplasty, also known as an eyelid lift, addresses aesthetic issues with the upper and lower eyelids. With this procedure, our experienced plastic surgeon can:

  • Lift drooping upper lids
  • Remove wrinkles from upper and lower lids
  • Remove dark and puffy skin from lower lids

Eyelid surgery can also improve vision that has been obstructed by hooded upper lids, allowing the procedure to address both aesthetic and functional issues.

Eyelid surgery does not correct drooping eyebrows. For this, an endoscopic brow lift may be needed. Combining blepharoplasty with a brow lift is common and can help to produce the most pleasing outcomes. During your initial consultation with Dr. Farrell, we will help you determine if a combination of procedures will help you achieve your goals.

Non-Surgical Enhancement

An eyelid lift can improve the appearance of the skin around your eyes, but it cannot remove crow’s feet or the furrows between the eyebrows. Wrinkle relaxers offer an excellent solution for these common concerns.

At Farrell Plastic Surgery & Laser Center, we are pleased to offer BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® to relax muscles and smooth dynamic wrinkles. Results from these injectables can last for three to four months. Routinely scheduled touch-up treatments can be used to maintain these results.

In addition to softening crow’s feet and smoothing frown lines, BOTOX and Dysport can be used to lift sagging eyebrows, eliminate bunny lines from the bridge of the nose, and erase lines from around the lips. During your initial consultation, we will discuss your surgical and non-surgical options to help you determine which treatments will best meet your needs.

The Best Treatments for Crepey Neck Skin

Anti-age,Treatment.,Profile,Of,Beautiful,Middle-aged,Woman,Touching,Soft,SkinDo you have loose and sagging skin on your neck? Is your jawline obscured by excess fat? Do you have a double chin? A “turkey waddle”? Crepey skin? All of these things are common as we age.

Proper skin care can help to slow the process of aging. Using professional skincare products, including cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreens may even help to soften fine lines and assist in tightening the skin. These efforts can be bolstered through non-surgical skin rejuvenation designed to tighten, firm, and smooth the skin.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

One of the best ways to address crepey and loose skin on the neck is through laser treatments. Advanced laser treatments available through our office include:

Laser treatments can address pigmentation issues, reduce pore size, smooth fine lines and deep wrinkles, remove sun and age spots, and much more. Dr. Deborah Farrell, our experienced Central Pennsylvania Laser and Aesthetic Medicine physician, can help you learn what one of these treatments may be able to do for you.

Skin Tightening and Smoothing

In addition to laser treatments, we offer a range of non-surgical services for the neck and jaw. Options such as Thermage® and GentleWaves® can help to tighten and smooth neck skin. So too can some chemical peels.

Kybella®, which can be used alone or in combination with skin tightening, works to eliminate double chins and improve jawline definition. Some injectables and fillers, including BOTOX® Cosmetic, may also be effective at shrinking jowls.

The perfect combination of these treatments is dependent on your concerns. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and learn which ones are right for you.

How to Eliminate a Double Chin

Double chin, medically known as submental fat, can create an uneven, undefined, and unattractive appearance that impacts the jawline and, in some cases, the entire face. Diet and exercise are not always enough to address this issue, leaving many people wondering how best to deal with a double chin. Fortunately, there are a few very effective options – both surgical and non-surgical – that can be used to eliminate submental fat and restore an ideally contoured and defined jaw and chin.

Surgical Options

Surgical options for double chin include:

  • Neck Lift Surgery. With this option, loose and sagging skin along with excess fat deposits are removed from the neck, jawline, and chin
  • Neck Liposuction. With this option, excess fat is removed from the chin through gentle and targeted suction

Surgical options can be incredibly effective at eliminating submental fat, but they come with some risks and will require a short recovery period. During your initial consultation, we will carefully assess your areas of concern and provide honest information about what you can expect through surgical treatment.

Non-Surgical Options

Kybella®

Kybella® is the first injectable treatment for double chin. Safe, effective, and non-invasive, Kybella® works to dissolve submental fat, allowing for it to be removed through the body’s natural pathways of elimination. Because it is non-surgical, results may take up to six weeks to be realized, but the changes brought about by Kybella® are permanent. What’s more, this double chin treatment does not require downtime, incisions, or detailed recovery instructions, making it ideal for people who want to achieve ideal results but are not interested in surgery.

CoolSculpting®

CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical, non-invasive option to effectively and safely treat double chins. This option also does not require downtime, and allows fat to be removed through the body’s natural pathways. It typically takes several months for the full effect to be realized.

In addition, we are pleased to offer non-surgical treatments such as Thermage®, a radiofrequency skin tightening solution, along with a variety of laser skin treatments that may be useful in restoring optimal contours to the neck and chin.

During your initial consultation at our Mechanicsburg office, we can help you determine if Kybella® is the best solution for your needs.
