Suffering from sun-damaged skin? Reverse the harmful consequences of the summer’s rays and reduce the signs of aging with PicoSure®. This amazing light-based treatment is perfect for those who don’t want to deal with the risks, pain, and downtime of traditional laser treatments.

How Does PicoSure Work?

PicoSure’s unique PressureWave® technology uses a particular wavelength of light in combination with a specialized lens to convert laser energy into mild pressure. This targeted energy gently disrupts the offending cells, activating the creation of new collagen and elastin without burning or damaging the skin. And because it uses pressure instead of potentially dangerous heat, there’s no need for a long and painful recovery. In fact, most patients only experience some redness and inflammation for a few hours after treatment.

What Does PicoSure Treat?

PicoSure delivers its rejuvenating energy deep into the skin to address a wide range of conditions like loose skin, poor texture and tone, and pigmentation problems such as freckles, spots, acne scars, and other discolorations. First used to remove unwanted tattoos, PicoSure can reduce, and often completely remove, the appearance of pigmented skin lesions and blemishes, giving you a more youthful and even complexion. Some results are usually visible right after treatment, but the scope of improvement will increase with time and will vary depending upon the extent of damage to the area being treated.

Are PicoSure Treatments Painful?

Not only do our patients love how effective PicoSure is, they also love how tolerable the procedure is. That’s because there’s virtually no pain or discomfort during treatments at Farrell Plastic Surgery. And to ensure that you have a pleasant experience, Dr. Deborah Farrell will apply a numbing cream before the procedure begins to minimize or eliminate any irritation that may occur. At most, our Mechanicsburg patients describe these skin-revitalization treatments as feeling like a light snapping or warm sensation. Session times can be as quick as 15 to 30 minutes, depending on your needs.

How to Care for Your Skin After Treatment?

Your skin will probably be a little sensitive and vulnerable following your PicoSure treatment, just like a mild sunburn. To avert any discomfort or negative health effects, it’s important to stay away from prolonged sun exposure after your procedure. If you do go out, always protect the treated areas with a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

The number of PicoSure sessions you’ll need to see the best results will depend on several factors. Before getting started, Dr. Farrell will evaluate your specific skin issues and provide you with a tailored plan based on your personal goals, the condition being treated, and the size of the targeted area. Many of her PicoSure patients are able to see an improvement in the quality of their skin after just one session, but two to five appointments are typically recommended.
