Breast lift surgery is designed to address sagging breast tissue, also known as ptosis, and restore a firmer and perkier breast mound. Because it involves the lifting of breast tissue and removal of excess and sagging skin, breast lift may have a slight impact on cup size. It is important to note, however, that cup sizes can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, which may result in little to no change for individual women.
Combining Breast Procedures
While a reduction in cup size does not necessarily translate to smaller breasts, if you are concerned about volume loss, it may be a good idea to consider breast augmentation in conjunction with breast lift surgery. Adding implants to your procedure can help retain or even enhance your breast size while also improving breast shape and addressing issues such as asymmetry. Being open about your aesthetic desires during your initial consultation will allow us to help you determine if breast lift alone or in combination with augmentation will produce the best results.
Am I a Good Breast Lift Candidate?
Good candidates for any breast procedure will need to be in generally good health and prepared for a surgical procedure. If you use tobacco products, you will need to stop several weeks before surgery. Some medications, herbs, and supplements may need to be avoided as well.
Ideal candidates for breast lift surgery are women who do not plan on having any more children and who have the support necessary to take a few days – up to seven – to fully rest and recover. Most women can resume normal activities within seven to fourteen days, but limitations of heavy lifting and other strenuous activities will remain in place for up to six weeks. Understating what the recovery process entails is essential for determining candidacy.
Honest and upfront, our surgeons will take time to listen to your desires, carefully cover candidacy, and help you decide if now is the best time for you to undergo a breast lift procedure.
